Board-Certified Psychiatrist | Community Mental Health Advocate
Dr. Jeala Barnett-Gentry is a Birmingham, Alabama native dedicated to serving her community through compassionate and comprehensive psychiatric care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama before attending the MEDPREP post-baccalaureate program at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. During this time, she also completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Community Health. She went on to earn her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Dr. Barnett-Gentry completed her general psychiatry residency at Morehouse School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where she distinguished herself as chief resident. She is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and currently practices at Cahaba Medical Care in Birmingham, Alabama. Additionally, she serves as adjunct faculty at Morehouse School of Medicine and is a proud member of the American Psychiatric Association.
With a strong passion for community psychiatry, Dr. Barnett-Gentry is committed to working with underserved populations and advancing mental health education through academia. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, traveling, and cheering on Alabama football.
